My research examines how emotions shape consumers' willingness to shop ethically, how individuals talk about the moral implications of fair trade initiatives, and how consumers make sense of the ethical contradictions they confront while shopping.

My research looks at the fair trade movement to help understand what it means to be an ethical consumer. I examine how consumers make sense of the contradictions between their values and their everyday purchases that conflict with those values. I also examine the pathways to participation in the fair trade movement.
