Research Interest
I'm a writer and editor based in Berlin, Germany. I've worked with the North American Congress on Latin America (NACLA, www.nacla.org) and Colombia Journal (www.colombiajournal.org), as a consultant with diverse clients including the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and as editor with Idealist.org, a global network of people and organizations working on community change at the local, regional, and international level. I've worked and traveled in over 40 countries. I received my B.A. in History from DePaul University (Chicago, 1997), where I focused primarily on modern Latin American history and development issues. My studies included a year at University College London and research trips to Mexico and El Salvador. I received my M.A. in International Affairs from the New School (New York, 2008). My research included work on fair trade (particularly pricing) and I participated in a field program in Hong Kong. My masters thesis was "The Fair Trade Movement in Historical Perspective: Explaining the 'In and Against the Market' Predicament".
