Paulette L. Stenzel, J.D., is professor of International Business Law in the Department of Finance at Michigan State University. She is active in teaching, research, and public service. She includes units on Fair Trade in all courses she teaches including Business Law and Public Policy; International Business Law; and Environmental Law for Business. She is the advisor to MSU Students for Fair Trade, assisting them in sponsoring guest speakers and programs throughout the academic year. She is also advisor to The Spartan Global Development Fund, a student organization with the following mission: To empower students to combat poverty and inequality in the developing world through direct micro-credit

Professor Stenzel's research focuses on Fair Trade, Free Trade, and Sustainable Development, and she frequently speaks at Fair Trade events. In 2008 she did research in Ecuador and in 2007, she did research in Nicaragua. Since 1997 she has led study abroad groups to the Yucatán of Mexico. In all three countries, she has interviewed workers, government officials, and labor organizers about Fair Trade, free trade, and sustainability. In recent years she has published articles on the environmental ramifications of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Dominican Republic - Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR), the Puebla to Panama Plan, and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
