Author's short biography:


Pamela K. Robinson is a Research Associate at the ESRC Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS) at Cardiff University. This position follows the completion of a PhD that examined labour codes and standards in the Costa Rican-United Kingdom banana supply chain and an ESRC funded post-doctoral fellowship at Cardiff University. Her research focuses on corporate social responsibility (CSR), fair and ethical trade, international retailing and voluntary governance systems in global production chains. The emphasis of which is the analysis of the role of the market, state, and civil society in terms of improving the working conditions of labour. Prior to returning to academia, Pamela was employed in the retail sector in a number of senior management roles, with responsibility for buying and marketing of food products. Following which, she spent a number of years consulting and advising international retailers based in Europe and the United States on CSR policies, global sourcing strategies and ethical sourcing.
