Author's short biography:
Since 2005, PhD researcher in Business Administration and Economics at the Centre d'Economie Sociale (Prof. Jacques Defourny), University of Liège.
I have started a PhD thesis on Fair Trade organizations in Europe. The purposes of my research are:
- to explain the organizational diversity among Fair Trade operators (nonprofits, co-operatives & for-profit companies, functioning with different goals, resources,...);
- to establish a typology of Fair Trade organizations on the basis of their legal form, goals, resource mix and governance structures. This typology will be confronted to empirical data of FT operators in Belgium, France, Italy and the UK;
- to analyze the interactions between the different types of players (confrontation, competition, partnership,…) and their results on the organization of the chain.
For this purpose, I apply to the specific field of Fair Trade the literature frameworks on nonprofit organizations, social enterprises and social economy, and corporate social responsibility.
